McKinsey’s office in Rio is located in front of Guanabara Bay, with an amazing view of Sugar Loaf and the Bay. We take advantage of this great location during Surfing Day, a club started by some partners and associate partners who shared a passion for this sport. And we’re never far from the world-famous beaches of Ipanema and Leblon.
To further help bond our community, we have an annual year-end party where we host a barbecue for consultants and their spouses. Every year we also have a kids party where clowns and an array of games entertain the children of our consultants.
Every other year, we go on a retreat with our colleagues in the South Latin America office (includes the São Paulo, Santiago, and Buenos Aires offices). Most recently we had a 4-day retreat on Comandatuba island in the state of Bahia. The agenda included external guest speakers, sports activities, and dinner parties, which helped us all to connect and reconnect.
Befitting our location, we also offer a great array of tropical fruits for anyone in the office—mangoes, papayas, pineapples, bananas, etc.—that you probably won’t find in many other McKinsey offices.
