As befits a country that is home to the European Union, the Brussels office is an international hub with colleagues working here from all over Europe on issues across the continent. Brussels is an accessible city even by European standards, and CONNECT—a group that organizes social events and helps colleagues connect with each other—helps take advantage of that fact by providing guided tours of museums, walking tours of the city, and organized hikes in the countryside.
CONNECT also sends out a monthly newsletter about what’s happening in the office and sponsors challenges such as a recent photo contest. ExciteCom is the group that organizes events for the office: summer parties, Christmas parties, family events, and happy hours. They are also responsible for the social programs at our retreats.
We have recently traveled to Crete and Sardinia, where we discussed issues facing the office, but also went sailing, water skiing, carting, and sight seeing.
