Isabelle's perspective

How many consultants are published poets who also play rugby in their free time? Isabelle's passions range from B2B work with a variety of clients, to playing "scrum half" on her rugby team and going to the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, to backpacking through Southeast Asia.

September 2013

Hi everyone!

I am just back from a holiday in Brittany with family—I rested, enjoyed biking and sailing, and prepared for my upcoming wedding. I also celebrated my birthday with most of my family, which hadn’t happened for a long time (I usually use our August holiday to travel as far away as possible!). This year's travels will have to wait for the honeymoon.

Brittany, France

I worked in a biopharmaceutical start-up in Singapore a few years ago. And now, after having discovered B2B work at McKinsey, I am returning to one of my first passions and working for a healthcare client. When I originally joined McKinsey, I wanted to get a taste of everything, which led me to work in banking, technology services, mining, insurance, chemicals, utilities, and more. It's great to discover your passions and interests through hands-on experience. I thought this would be a good time to see how healthcare compares to some of my newer interests.

We performed the first phase of a very exciting and creative client engagement in July, and we're currently working on the operational phase. We've designed a new customer relationship management model for our client, and we'll pilot our recommended initiatives in one center. One of the things that I love about McKinsey is that we work very closely with our clients to develop the best solutions for them, and our recommendations are always "actionable" for them. It is great to participate in both strategy development and practical implementation!

Till next time,

Isabelle
