Centered Leadership Project

A new model for developing female leaders

In 2004, McKinsey began its support of a journey of discovery. We recorded interviews with women leaders from around the world. An ongoing project, our archive now includes 150 women and men. From 2008 on, we began to shape unique learning programs for our women based on the five dimensions of Centered Leadership.

McKinsey director Joanna Barsh leads the Centered Leadership Project, which helps leaders gain personal mastery to make profound change happen in themselves, their teams, and their organizations.

Today, these programs engage women from across our Firm, but also women—and men—clients. Finally, Centered Leadership became the basis for Joanna Barsh and Susie Cranston's best-selling business book, How Remarkable Women Lead: The Breakthrough Model for Work and Life.
