Recruiting process
During the assessment process, we leverage a wide range of techniques to ensure a fair and accurate evaluation of your abilities and achievements. Generally, the first round of interviews will include:
Problem solving test: This is a multiple choice, case-based test assessing basic problem solving abilities and helps to indicate how well individuals will perform as McKinsey consultants. The test consists of 26 questions and you will be given 60 minutes to address as many questions as possible. The test does not require any specific academic or business background to perform well. You may access a sample test here. (No calculators allowed)
In-person interviews: You can also expect two, 50-minute interviews that will each include a verbal case study and a discussion on your experiences.
- Case study: a broad, two-way discussion on a business problem. Interviewers will be assessing how you approach the problem more so than on the specific answers that you give. As with the Problem Solving Test, it does not require any prior academic or business expertise. You may review a sample case here.

Experience interviews: when discussing your background with us, it is not just your achievements that are important but also the skills you used to get there. Our interviewers want to understand your past accomplishments in-depth to determine if your skills would position you for a successful career with McKinsey.
