McKinsey Q&A: Tricia

– Meet Tricia, an engagement manager with our Operations practice in Toronto.

Interviewer: Why did you join McKinsey's Operations practice?

Tricia

Tricia: I was excited to work on really important and challenging problems and to see my work quickly make a difference. I felt an immediate connection to the people from the Operations practice. I not only wanted to work with them but I also wanted to get to know them as people.

Interviewer: Describe your background.

Tricia: I studied chemical engineering, then spent about 10 years working for a manufacturing company in a variety of ops, account management and strategy roles. These positions exposed me to markets outside of North America; I even spent two years on assignment at a factory in Mexico.

Interviewer: What has been your favorite McK engagement so far?

Tricia: As much as I love doing consumer goods work now, one of my favorite projects was a procurement piece in the mining industry. My team built a model to help our client understand how much it should cost their suppliers to make explosives.

Interviewer: What tip would you share with other people interviewing with McK?

Tricia: Relax, be yourself and let your real personality shine.

Interviewer: What are you passionate about outside of work?

Tricia: Anything outdoors and active...hiking, running, biking, skiing, and surfing.
