McKinsey Q&A: Mohammad

– Meet Mohammad, an engagement manager who helped to launch the Vancouver office, which officially opened yesterday.

Interviewer: What brought you to McKinsey?

Mohammad

Mohammad: A desire to compliment my education with hands-on experience across industries. I can’t think of any other job that would allow me to learn so much by being immersed in the challenges that keep CEOs awake at night. McKinsey’s culture of delivering impact while having fun pushes me forward.

Interviewer: What’s been the most exciting part about opening a new location?

Mohammad: McKinsey always encourages us to do what we enjoy most. In my free time, I love to invent things. Starting the Vancouver office was my opportunity to build something new – a new location, with new colleagues, developing new clients.

Interviewer: What has been your most memorable engagement at the firm?

Mohammad: Helping a diamond mining company in the Arctic improve the efficiency of its processes. I don’’t think many people get to go to the Arctic let alone a diamond mine there.

Interviewer: What tip would you give to others considering joining McK?

Mohammad: Enjoy the journey from beginning to the end; the application, interviews and work are all invaluable learning experiences.
