– We sat down with Bontle, a Johannesburg-based engagement manager with Digital McKinsey, to learn more about her full life as a consultant and author.
Interviewer: What word best describes how you work?
Interviewer: Describe your problem-solving strategy in a sentence.
Bontle: Keep asking questions until you have the answer – or at least an indication of what it may be.
Interviewer: What’’ your best time-saving shortcut or life hack?
Bontle: I keep a bag packed at all times so I can always grab it and go without spending a ton of time thinking about what to pack. Also, I roll everything I put into my suitcase.
Interviewer: What’s one thing about you that surprises people you meet?
Bontle: In my spare time, I’m a children’s book author and a publisher of feminist articles.
Interviewer: What’s your favorite distraction?
Bontle: Black Twitter and Buzzfeed quizzes.
Interviewer: What are you currently reading?
Bontle: I’m curating content for one of South Africa’s biggest book fairs next year, so almost everything I am reading is African to help me come up with clever answers to questions I might get about local fiction. Two pieces I’m enjoying right now are “The Yearning” by Mohale Mashigo and “The Woman Next Door” by Yawande Omotoso.
Interviewer: How do you recharge?
Bontle: By sharing champagne with good friends who like to talk about books.
