When you join McKinsey, you'll work alongside our global network of leaders—both on your team and on-site with clients. Our firm-wide training programs prepare you for the types of challenges you'll help clients address. We also offer women-only programs to help you maximize your strengths, develop close connections, and grow as a leader.
Formal training programs just for women
By the time a woman reaches partnership, she will have spent close to three full weeks in women-specific programs. This is on top of the world-class training programs all McKinsey consultants receive throughout their careers here.
Women-specific training programs are offered at every tenure level.
For example, female associates with 12-24 months tenure are eligible for Engaging with Presence. In this one-and-a-half-day in-person course, women learn how to enhance their personal effectiveness with tactics on handling difficult situations and honing their personal communication skills as they participate in mock meetings. A second segment of this course is offered to female first-year engagement managers.
Other female-only training programs include Personal Impact Workshop, Sponsorship Masterclass, and Path to Partnership Workshop.
A global women's network
McKinsey Women is our firm-wide network of female McKinsey consultants across the globe. Women at McKinsey consider it a powerful resource that provides formal and informal mentoring, training, and relationship-building opportunities. Each office fosters local connections and delivers local programs to help women connect, learn, and grow.
McKinsey Women events
Individual offices offer women-specific sessions that address topics like “Building Relationships with Senior Clients,” “Developing Networks,” and “Being a Mom at McKinsey.” These forums can take the form of annual offsite meetings or ongoing Friday events and workshop series.
Informal networks
There are also a number of informal support networks for women. For example, McKinsey Moms is a close-knit network that supports mothers before, during, and after pregnancy. McKinsey Moms publishes a moms' guide to McKinsey called Laptops and Lullabies.
