Corporate Risk Expert

Role Description

  • Serve as a risk thought leader/team advisor on client engagements, shaping problem solving and discussion around topics related to risk with McKinsey consultants and clients

  • Lead teams on risk engagements

  • Take lead in developing new distinctive risk approaches to support top management-level strategic decisions

  • Contribute to professional development of McKinsey colleagues by helping to design and deliver training programs on risk and finding new ways to create innovative and distinctive services

  • Work across multiple industries, focus on energy/natural resources, basic materials/chemicals, industrial, travel and pharma/medical products. Functional approach cuts across strategy, corporate finance, and operations/supply chain management.

Candidate Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in risk management in any industry sector and/or experience in a professional consultancy environment (with risk as a focus) and/or comparable experience in corporate finance, supply chain, trading/intermediation with significant exposure to risk, or contract/asset structuring

  • Strong academics (graduate degree from a top University) in risk, business/finance, or another strongly quantitative field

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills

  • Proven ability to lead teams, motivate others, communicate complex ideas clearly, gain the respect of clients and colleagues, and work collaboratively

  • Demonstrated outstanding business acumen
