About Ruben

Ruben is based in Antwerp and leads our offices in Belgium and Luxembourg. He is a member of our global basic materials leadership team.

Ruben has more than 20 years of experience serving industrial clients on strategic, organizational, and operational topics. He has advised major basic-materials, chemical, and energy companies on strategic portfolio screening, including the assessment of external and internal opportunities. He has conducted a number of multi-year improvement programs covering operations, commercial activities, and supply chain, and has extensive experience in the redesign of functions at corporate level and within shared services.

In addition, Ruben has supported several leading basic-materials and chemicals companies with strategic alliance negotiations, synergy evaluation, and post-merger integration, helping the organizations to maintain business continuity and capture synergies during the merger process.

Before joining McKinsey, Ruben worked as a plant and project engineer at Exxon Chemicals. He has master’s degrees in both engineering and economics from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.
