Dominic Barton

Dominic Barton is the global managing director of McKinsey. He is based in London and leads the firm’s focus on the future of capitalism and the role business leadership can play in creating long-term social and economic value. Before becoming managing director, Dominic served as McKinsey’s chairman in Asia from 2004–09. He also headed McKinsey’s office in Korea from 2000–04.

Dominic is an active participant in the World Economic Forum, Le Cercle des économistes (Circle of the economists): Les Rencontres Économiques d’Aix-en-Provence, the Asia Business Council, and the China Development Forum.

He is an adviser to the Asian Development Bank, a trustee of the Brookings Institution, and a Rhodes Trustee. He is an adjunct professor at Tsinghua University, Beijing.

Dominic has authored more than 80 articles. He is a coauthor, with Roberto Newell and Greg Wilson, of Dangerous Markets: Managing in Financial Crises (Wiley & Sons, 2002). His most recent book is China Vignettes: An Inside Look at China (Talisman, 2007).

He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BA Honours in economics and studied as a Rhodes Scholar at Brasenose College, Oxford University.
