Who we are

McKinsey is a global firm, comprising more than 9,000 consultants and nearly 2,000 research and information professionals. We have offices in more than 60 countries, speak more than 120 languages, and represent over 100 nationalities.

Our clients reflect our global nature. Around 40% are in Europe, 35% in the Americas, 15% in Asia Pacific and 10% in the Middle East and Africa. We serve a broad mix of private-, public-, and social-sector organizations.

Our firm is designed to operate as one. We are a single global partnership united by a strong set of values, focused on client impact. Our firm is owned by 1,400 plus partners,  spread across Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.

We have no headquarters in the traditional sense. Our worldwide managing director, elected by the partners, chooses his or her home office, currently London. Our Shareholders Council or Board also comprises partners elected by their peers. Its 30 members represent more than a dozen nationalities.

We take a consistent approach to recruiting and developing our people, regardless of where they are based.

This structure ensures that we can quickly deliver the right team, with the right experience and expertise, to every client, anywhere in the world.

Delivering new tools

The ability to capture, organize, and extract insights from data has become requisite in every industry and function. To help our clients move quickly from data to actionable insights, we embed our proprietary knowledge in a growing collection of digital tools, analytics, and services, which allows managers at all levels to independently exploit data to make better decisions on a daily basis.

Three examples from our growing portfolio of tools and solutions include:

  • Periscope is a suite of software tools that distills data about pricing, promotions, margins, and sales into practical recommendations. Our clients typically use Periscope to improve sales margins, from 2 to 7 percent.
  • Organizational Health Index (OHI) is a survey-based assessment of an organization’s effectiveness and management practices that has been used by more than 600 major companies worldwide. OHI helps our clients assess their organization’s health, diagnose culture, and identify paths to performance improvement.
  • Energy Insights provides market analysis, performance benchmarking, and custom research to help energy companies make critical decisions about strategic investments, transactions, and operations.
