The bedrock of our practice is a global pool of practitioners dedicated to semiconductors. These consultants combine hands-on experience in electronics and engineering with a rigorous training in business management.
Not only do our consultants serve many of the largest chip manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and other value chain players. They also work with industry associations, private investors, consortia and governments to understand and shape the industry’s future. When a major research consortium needed to redefine its mission and governance, it asked McKinsey to lead the work.
These relationships give us a unique perspective on the forces shaping the industry. We recently convened leaders from across the semiconductor industry to discuss alpha growth and to understand the impact of China on industry structure. Recent presentations by our consultants include a SEMI/SEMATECH President's Day keynote address (on the topic of value chain disaggregation) and a presentation to the Global Semiconductor Association (on the consumer OEM market.)
