Hispanic/Latino consultants

We're excited about the recent formation of a Hispanic/Latino consulting service staff (HLCSS) group. Its mission includes facilitating networking and mentoring opportunities, cultivating and recruiting exceptional Hispanic/Latino talent, and building expertise in Hispanic trends, consumers, and markets.

"I found McKinsey a tremendous meritocracy and felt it was my responsibility to communicate that this is a fantastic place for people of Hispanic background. You don't have to swim against the tide here."

Luis
Partner

Luis Ubinas – a senior partner in San Francisco of Hispanic heritage – grew up near Yankee Stadium in the South Bronx, New York, in an area that had the highest violent crime rate in the United States.

A strong family and a highly evolved system of identifying top students channeled him to the city's finest elementary school. He went on to earn undergraduate and M.B.A. degrees from Harvard University. Now a highly regarded expert in the firm's Media & Entertainment Practice, Luis considers his rise to director from one of the worst places to grow up in the U.S. as evidence of McKinsey's meritocracy.

When several young associates approached him with the idea of a network for the Hispanic/Latino consultants, he embraced the idea.

With one quarter of U.S. children under the age of five of Hispanic origin, we believe that it is tremendously important to be at the forefront in fostering our fair share of Hispanic/Latino talent in the U.S. - as well as other regions. Our HLCSS network is gaining real traction, and those who join the firm will have a tremendous opportunity to become involved at the ground level in this exciting new initiative.
